Remember this is the Class of 1966, not 1996. For the record, girls were allowed to play basketball in the gym. As the year book states:

The Girls Gym activities are less strenuous than those of boys. their physical fitness lessons are modified, but they are challenging nevertheless....To further this goal, clubs are established each term to interest the girls in sports and dancing. Tennis, swimming, modern dance, and gymnastics are several of the skills girls can learn and practice with others of the same interest.
